Policy and Technical Brief Series on IWRM from EC-project STRIVER
On 17 November, 2008, the EC-funded FP6-project STRIVER launched it Series of Policy and Technical Briefs. The intention is to communicate the results from the project in an easy non-technical fashion with a clear management and policy impact message. The two series summarize results from the project so far, and are aimed at an applied research audience, water managers, decision takers and policy makers. 11 Policy Briefs and 6 Technical Briefs are part in this first launch.
The Series cover a variety of themes all within the context of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). Topics and problems included in the Policy Briefs (PBs) so far are e.g., livelihood and fishery; water management in transboundary waters; environmental flow; water governance and communication; water quality modelling; water law; water valuation; land-use changes; agricultural irrigation; land and water use interactions; stakeholder participation; scenarios. The Technical Briefs (TBs) include more technical information and in-depth description and discussion about methodologies applied on the above mentioned IWRM topics. All PBs and TBs are exemplified with applications and results from the four case basins in STRIVER: Glomma (Norway), Tagus (Spain/Portugal), Tungabhadra (India) and Sesan (Vietnam/Cambodia).
