EurAqua presented at the EU Regional Policy conference: Regions for Economic Change — Networking for Results 16-17 February 2009
EurAqua was invited to present the EurAqua network at the fifth thematic conference under the Initiative"Regions for Economic Change". The conference “Regions for Economic Change: Networking for Results" highlighted the Cohesion Policy and its Regional development fund (ERDF) and the Structural funds (Interreg IVC and URBACT II).
The the EU Regional Policy conference with 500 participants was based on plenary and workshop sessions. The Chair of EurAqua gave an introduction to the workshop on “Regions and the water Challenge: Learning for good practices". The session was chaired by Peter Gammeltoft (Director DG Environment). The topic given included experience and advice based on managing and developing a European network over years. About 80 people attended the Water workshop and the EurAqua presentation was well taken onboard. I took the opportunity to underline that EurAqua as a network could provide knowledge and competence regarding water management issues and that we with our European coverage would be present and able to contribute in networks being established in what ever region inEurope. The institutions present in the relevant region could draw upon the competence of the whole network. The new EurAqua brochure was handed out at the occasion.
